Happy Fourth of July!
Meet Bella! This lovely Lipizzan mare brings a special sense of freedom to the table. When I looked at Bella’s picture, I saw great beams of light coming from her forehead. Those beams reminded me of the bright glow from angels. Bella’s message is centered around always seeing the magic of possibility through the lightness of movement and feeling of freedom.
Her owner Kris told me about seeing her on the internet and knowing she was the horse for her. Kris had always appreciated the elegance and beauty of the Lipizzan horses. She saw Bella online (who at that time was called Jaboolani, her registered name). Kris no longer rides Bella but appreciates the simple pleasures of being with her.
Beyond general horse care, Kris picks up on small things. Moments of watching Bella graze, her interactions with other horses, and the alertness of her environment. Those simple moments of mindfulness and attention keep Kris and Bella right there…exploring the world with wonder and grace. (more…)
I sat starring at Beau’s photo for over an hour. This 24 year old Thoroughbred had me stumped. I was having a hard time connecting with him. So I sat and waited for something to come. I thought of moonlight and that incredible early morning blue glow. I remembered watching the thoroughbreds in training at the Aiken, SC training track in that kind of light. The magic of the blue light along with the power and speed of the horses thundering by while most people were still in bed got me thinking.
Maybe Beau also liked the mystery that this light held?
He is a gorgeous Lusitano stallion. His owner Lori told me about horse shopping and how she knew he was the one.
“I met him on the one-year anniversary of my Dad passing away. My Dad is why I love horses. That was our passion when I was a kid. It turns out that Nina my trainer had lost her Dad a couple of years ago and that it was his birthday so we knew this was the horse.
The whole universe said that this was the one for me. I decided to buy him.”
Lori told me about her amazing adventure of horse shopping in Europe and how her trainer Nina is training Epico for her. She goes to Nina’s place in Austria several times a year to ride and enjoy the culture there. I love an adventure and I could tell that Lori did too! The excitement in her voice brightened my day and got me thinking about adventures and such.
Why find an adventure?
I’m hoping to see the ‘super-moon’ tonight. Just thinking about it made me remember a full moon night that I got to experience with a special soul.
I was in the high deserts of Arizona taking part in workshop on leadership led by Linda Kohanov. While I was excited about hanging out with horses on a full moon night, I wasn’t sure if it had anything to do with leadership.
I silently walked down a long moon lit path into the desert. The stillness was inviting and soon I could hear the soft gentle sounds of horses breathing. The first horse I saw walked up to me and greeted me with a simple snort. I stopped and just stood there waiting to see if he would stay with me or return to his herdmates. He decided to stay. At first I wasn’t sure if I should touch him but after awhile I let my heart take over. In one gesture, I went from hugging his thick neck to sobbing. He wrapped his head around me as my fingers twisted through his mane. (more…)
